PRACTICAL HELP

We want to be a church that cares well for people
because we know that God cares for you!

We offer practical assistance for individuals and families with such things as:

FRESH BREAD

Every Sunday at Morning Church

We have bags of fresh bread and buns available.

KIDS CLOTHING XCHANGE

Kids grow out of clothes so fast. So we offer a free kids clothing exchange.
You can drop off clean, tidy kids clothes here at church, and then on the first Sunday of the month, you can help yourself with up to five items of kids clothing per family for free. Some of the clothing is even brand new.

Just a great way to help each other and stretch the family budget.

FROZEN MEALS

In conjunction with a food rescue charity, we usually have frozen meals that we can help people know need it. Pick up or deliver.

FOOD PARCEL CONTACTS

We work with Papatoetoe Christian Food Bank and the Salvation Army and are able to refer people for required food parcels.

HELPING HANDS

If you need help with practical things around your home eg sick and need lawns mowed, we have a team of people that can help you.

PRACTICAL HELP

PERSONAL HELP

PERSONAL HELP

Sometimes, we need that conversation with someone who is outside our current situation; and church is a great place to get some of that advice.
We are happy to help in practical ways or in personal ways with advice, pastoral care, prayer or counselling.

LIFE EVENTS

We are available to help with significant events such as baby dedications, baptism, weddings or funerals. We also offer counselling. Counselling allows you to take charge of your own life and explores additional choices for you.

COUNSELLING

Our church offers professional trained counselling services at a significantly reduced cost as an affordable service to our community. Fees are based on a sliding scale based on your income and what you can afford.

We offer family counselling, children’s, relationship and personal issues counselling. This can be with family groups, individuals, children, teens or couples. Counselling is confidential and will be worked within the guidelines of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors Code of Ethics.
With a team of qualified and registered counsellors, we’d like the opportunity to meet with you and walk the journey with you.

PRAYER

Prayer changes lives! Do you have a real need and not know where to go, or who to go to? God does not want you to be burdened, bowed down or feel bound. Our Prayer Ministry team are willing to listen, share, pray for you.

Prayer is available on any Sunday after the services. Our Prayer team are also available to pray one on one, outside Sunday services, and through houses or land. Prayer is always confidential, so you can safely share what's on your heart.

It is exciting to see what God does when we give Him access to our hearts. Lives are changed. Relationships healed. Physically we can be healed. Emotional healings – the sense of relief needs to be experienced. Houses feel warmer and more comfortable. Children sleep without nightmares.

Invite God into your situation and see what He does.

FAITH DEVELOPMENT

FAITH DEVELOPMENT

This is central to what we do as a church – we offer an opportunity for you to discover a God who cares deeply for you. But this is an opportunity that you have to decide if you want to accept.

We would love to help you with any questions you have and to help you grow in your faith.

ALPHA COURSE

This is an amazing course that explains the basics of believing in God.

It is well presented, fun and involves food and getting to know others.

BIBLE STUDIES

The Bible is an amazing book – but often some help to understand it is great as well. We have a variety of bible study option available.

HANGOUT GROUPS

We grow when we learn off others. Connect Groups is a way to meet people and grow in our faith, while journeying with others.

We can then offer each other help and encouragement – we all need that.

LIBRARY

We have an awesome free resource library with modern books, DVD’s, kids books and movies that can help you develop your knowledge and faith.

PRAYER

We encourage people to pray for each other. We also have staff or the Prayer Ministry team to also be available to pray for you.

BAPTISM

Baptism is an outward display of what happens for us when we decide to follow Jesus. We love baptisms – they are a great opportunity to celebrate someone’s commitment to faith.

COMMUNION

This is an important reminder of what Jesus has done for us. We celebrate communion once a month at both Morning and Night Church.

This is open to anyone who chooses to follow Jesus.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

We offer great, practical opportunities to grow and develop.

TOASTMASTERS

Confidence and leadership are great qualities to develop. You can do this through our Toastmasters group. Meeting weekly and growing in a positive environment! We even have a Youth Gavel club so 11-17 year olds can develop their communication and leadership skills.

TE REO CLASSES

Develop your skills in Maori Language.
You will also learn more about Maori culture and faith.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESOL)

If you are developing your English Language skills, we have a free class to help you meet others and grow in your English speaking skills.

CULTURAL GROUPS

You head down to the Manukau mall, and there is such a mixture of cultures.

We hope you find the same here at church.

We believe we are called to be a multicultural church. That means we interact with others, but also have room to celebrate and enjoy our own heritage.
Faith fits into any culture, and we hope any culture can be part of our church.

There are different cultural groups such as:

Te Roopu Awhina

Hui, kai and whanau - uniting people in Christ.

Pacifika in Christ

Sing, dance and encourage each other in our faith.

Fillipino Group

Meets fortnightly with plenty of food, laughter & good teaching.

Indian Fellowship

Has a monthly get together and always with food as well.

International Group

A mixture of cultures, including kiwis.

CULTURAL GROUPS
CREATIVE

CREATIVE

There are plenty of opportunities for music, performance, drama, dance, multi media and production… if you have gifts, we love seeing them used.

Music is something we do together – and something that others can lead us in. We have a number of music teams who love playing together and using their gifts and talents to honour God. These start with our High School GAP Band, through to our Sunday Morning & Night Teams, and the young adults’ Embassy Worship. If you have vocal or musical skills, we love to use those in worship and develop them further. We want an encouraging team environment where creativity and skill can grow.

OVERSEAS

OVERSEAS

Telling others and showing them the love of Jesus needs to happen in our own back yard, throughout New Zealand and around the globe.

Internationally, we have a number of missionaries from our church around the world in places such as Thailand and the Philippines. There are also missions organisations we support in Israel, through Tranzsend and in places round the globe. This is done through Manukau Global Missions – our missions team here at MCBC. We also encourage our people to do a short term mission – if you haven’t done one yet, we say: “Why Not?!” Annually we do a missions focus over several weeks with prayer and self denial.

Nationally, we are involved with the Baptist movement, Christian Fellowship for the Disabled, Bible Society, CEC Bible in Schools, and Easter Camps.
Locally, we have various activities enabling us to take the good news of Jesus to our community. We also work closely with Papatoetoe Adolescent Christian Trust, local schools and churches and other organizations in our community. We also encourage individual responsibility to achieve our corporate goal of reaching people with the good news we have.

Mission matters. It matters to God, and it matters to us as a church.

OVERSEAS

LIBRARY

Modern, up to date and well maintained, our library is open any time the church is open. It offers a large range of books, DVDs and other resources. Including kids stuff, novels, practical topics or some grunty theology.
Located just off reception with some comfy chairs, come on in and browse through a wide range of Christian resources as long as you like.

All you need to do to borrow a book is to have a postbox here at church.

We accept donations of any good quality items – how often do you really read a book more than once? Why not make it available to bless someone else.

LIBRARY
