ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
We are a church community of all ages, all ethnicities and all backgrounds.
We love getting all together on Sundays and for social or serving events, but we also want to have programmes that suit different ages, and stages and interests in life. These programs are great opportunities to meet others, develop life-long relationships and to help each other grow in our faith.
We talk about Real People and Real Life. We hope that when you come to church, you find “Real People” – people who are real in their success and struggles, real in their faith and hope… and just real – no masks or “playing” church please! We also hope you find Real Life too – just something indefinably good about seeing Jesus in people and seeing Jesus at work in the community.
OUR HISTORY
Our church began on the main street of Papatoetoe way back 1930. As our community has changed, the church has changed too and we are now based in the heart of Manukau. Our people come from all over the wider Manukau region.
While our community and the church has changed, our message and the good news of the gospel hasn’t changed!
We aim to be a body of people living out our faith in a relevant way that makes a difference in our community today. We also get to be part of the invitation for others to be part of our church community and to be part of the faith community.
OUR VISION & VALUES
We want to make a positive difference in our community of Manukau and in the world.
To do this, we are committed to being In Community (we are an integral part of a faith community with God and the people of His church). We are also On Mission (we are absolutely passionate about living a life on mission that brings honour to God).
We believe we will be a healthy, vibrant church if we thrive in 8 key areas:
1. Passionate Spirituality
2. Intentional Evangelism
3. Loving Relationships
4. Gift Orientated Ministry
5. Inspiring Large Groups
6. Nurturing Small Groups
7. Empowering Leadership
8. Functional structures
We are passionate about having a positive impact on people that the church has contact with, and a positive impact on our community.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
MCBC is a vibrant, alive, hope filled community of people who love Jesus and love living out our faith. We are being transformed, being forgiven and growing in our faith together.
We are committed to our local community, to working with other churches, to contributing to the church in our nation and to contributing to God’s call to this world.
We are committed to recognising and caring for people individually, as well as looking to how we work together as a community.
We hope you feel welcome here at MCBC whether you visit for a morning or become a life long member.
