OUR STORIES

THIS YEAR

FOR A CHURCH TO BE EFFECTIVE

WE NEED THESE THREE THINGS:

1. BIG COMMUNITY

2. RELATIONAL CONNECTION

3. INDIVIDUAL FAITH

HERE'S HOW WE DID

_MG_2958_edited.jpg
BIG COMMUNITY IN 2021

We love getting together to worship – Morning church is such a mixture of ages and culture and is a great representation of Manukau. And we have had to be adaptable!

In 2021, part of getting together has been gathering separately in homes during lockdown. We look forward to expanding that as we do Church Everywhere in 2022.

We love getting together for events – Easter and Christmas outdoor services, Inflatable Planet, Scanvenger Hunts, Adventures, Camps, Festivals, Movies, Her & Bloke events and more! They have been great times for us as a whanau in 2021.

RELATIONAL CONNECTION IN 2021

Everyone needs just a couple of good mates within church. We all need that connection for personal connection and for faith growth.

Things like age ministries, courses, serving together, working bees and Hang Out Groups have continued to provide this in 2021.

And Church Everywhere heading into 2022 will only increase this. We all need relational connection – keep pursuing it and asking God for it until you find it!

INDIVIDUAL FAITH IN 2021

Our Faith, Hope & Aroha series this year has encouraged us to read our Bible every day. But what we really want is to meet with Jesus every day. We have loved preaching through this series too. Pursuing faith takes daily effort and daily discipline… but look at the results!

This year we have:

  • Developed more carparking for the Op Shop & Lifecare Centre.

  • Built our outdoor stage to develop our Paddock area into a giant outdoor room.

  • Developed our outdoor courtyard with decking & seating. The playground upgraded and integrated into the outdoor area.

  • New signage and branding round the church.

  • Upgrade & refit of the children's and youth areas.

  • Purchased giant inflatable obstacle course for Inflatable Planet and inflatable MCBC shade shelter for outdoor events and camps.

  • Updated foyer seating and other seating in our meeting rooms.

Church Everywhere-12.png
2022 CHURCH EVERYWHERE

As we continue to respond to circumstances around the pandemic, it is so good to remind ourselves that God is in charge. The church needs to be agile and adaptable – we are the greatest organisation on this planet and the only one that continues into eternity.

As we face government restrictions, it’s important to apply biblical principals such as:

  1. The church welcomes everyone

  2. The church doesn’t segregate

  3. We care for all

  4. We honour & respect the government

  5. We meet together

So we can’t meet all together. We can’t keep doing church on our own – it’s not supposed to be done that way! Instead, we can do:

CHURCH EVERYWHERE!

You get to run a church out of your own living room. Invite others. Connect with others. We provide the teaching and the worship and the discussion questions… you just get to do the fun part of welcoming and interacting with others and praying together and inviting others!

NEW STAFF APPOINTMENT

We're excited to announce that David Preston will be coming on staff in 2022 to head up the 18’s to early 20’s Young Adults.

WHAT IS OUR RESPONSE?

What is our response at MCBC to the really big questions of housing and education in Manukau in 2022?

We are looking at setting up a Home Schooling Hub to help support parents who are choosing to Home School. This is an awesome opportunity to support MCBC and Christian families and an awesome outreach opportunity to families who don’t know Jesus.

Housing needs some creative and innovative solutions – how do we help our MCBC families find a place they can call home in Manukau? How can we utilise biblical principals such as interest free loans? How do we maximise our resources to start to change the “rent for life” or “mortgage for life” burdens? Some huge questions – but the Holy Spirit is the most creative force on earth.
We want to look for the Jesus solutions.
